Join us on June 6th, 2017 from 6-8pm for Friends of Grand Rapids Parks’ class on advocacy! We’ll meet at Baxter Community Center, located at 935 Baxter Street SE Grand Rapids, MI 49506.

Learn how to become an advocate for the trees in your community and turn your knowledge into action by joining Friends of Grand Rapids Parks: Citizen Forester program.

You will learn about the state of Grand Rapids’ urban forest, how the local government is organized, and who the key players are that help to manage our trees in public spaces. You will be provided with techniques for engaging key officials and agencies in order to help protect and increase the tree canopy in your neighborhood and city.

Space may be limited. Please RSVP to Rachel by email at rachel@friendsofgrparks.org!

This class is a combined Citizen Forester & Parks Alive Leaders class and satisfies the advocacy class requirement for both programs. It’s a great chance for Citizen Foresters and Parks Alive Leaders to meet each other and talk about the importance of our local parks, public spaces and urban forest! There is no need to take these classes in any specific order and everyone is welcome to attend!
