After Work Tree Time: Leonard Pt.1

July 14th, 2016- Meet at Mary Waters Park 1042 LAFAYETTE NE

Join the Urban Forest Project and Citizen Foresters in helping to maintain trees across the City. Throughout the year, we host a variety of opportunities to shrug off a day at the desk and spend some time outdoors enjoying sunshine, nature, and a bit of elbow grease.

This After Work Tree Time will give us a chance to check on the trees that replaced trees affected by EAB in 2012, provide some pruning care, finally remove those tree wraps, and learn a thing or two about tree maintenance. We’ll provide all the tools and equipment, you’ll provide your hands!

We’ll meet up at Mary Waters Park,  1042 Lafayette NE around 5 and start pruning at 5:15! However, you’re welcome to show up late or leave early; work as much as you want. Every bit helps. We’ll wrap up around 7pm.

WHAT: Maintain some Trees that need our lovin’! In particular.. remove  tree wraps and prune branches that are in sidewalks.
WHERE:  Start on Lafayette NE by Mary Waters Park and move north to Lenoard St.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 14th around 5PM
WHY: City trees need love. Trees should be pruned every 3 to 5 years, yet the majority of street trees are pruned only every 10 to 12 years. This increases the risk for limb drops and tree falls, which endanger people and property.
WHO: Citizen Foresters and interested volunteers.
HOW: We’ve got the tools and expertise. Luckily, the trees are already there waiting for us!

RSVP TO DARIA AT [email protected] OR CALL OUR OFFICE AT 616-288-7209 TO LET US KNOW YOU’RE COMING.

THIS EVENT FULFILLS THE HANDS ON PRUNING SESSION NEEDED TO RECEIVE YOUR CITIZEN FORESTER CERTIFICATION.
